Collin Richards will stand trial in January. The 22-year-old Iowa drifter is charged with killing a prime beginner golfer from Spain.

District Choose Bethany Currie dominated Monday that Richards will stand trial Jan. 15 for first-degree homicide within the loss of life of Iowa State College pupil Celia Barquin Arozamena.

Richards entered a written not responsible plea Monday morning and waived his proper to a speedy trial. The submitting canceled an in-person arraignment listening to that had been scheduled for later Monday.

Investigators say Richards attacked Barquin on Sept. 17 whereas she was taking part in a spherical at a public course in Ames, close to the college campus. Her physique was present in a pond on the course riddled with stab wounds.

Richards faces life in jail with out the potential for parole if convicted.
