For your info, it's useful to know that the majority of the cPanel Hosting offerings on the contemporary web hosting marketplace are supplied by a quite insignificant marketing segment (as far as annual money flow is concerned) named reseller hosting. Reseller web hosting is a kind of a small-scale marketing niche, which provides a big amount of different web hosting brands, yet providing literally the same services: mainly cPanel web hosting solutions. This is bad news for everybody. Why? Because at least 98% of the web hosting offerings on the whole web hosting marketplace offer one and the same service: cPanel. There's no difference at all. Even the cPanel-based Hosting price tags are alike. Very much alike. Giving those who demand a top web hosting service virtually no other website hosting platform/web hosting CP option. Thus, there is only one single fact: out of more than two hundred thousand website hosting trademarks around the world, the non-cPanel based ones are less than 2%! Less than 2 percent, mind that one...

200k "Hosting companies", all cPanel-based, yet diversely dubbed

The Hosting "variety" and the web hosting "offers" Google reveals to all of us come down to merely one thing: cPanel. Under hundreds of thousands of different web hosting brand names. Imagine you are just an ordinary chap who's not well aware of (as the majority of us) with the website creation processes and the web hosting platforms, which actually power the separate domain names and sites. Are you ready to make your hosting decision? Is there any website hosting alternative you can settle on? Of course there is, nowadays there are more than two hundred thousand website hosting corporations in existence. Formally. Then where is the difficulty? Here's where: more than 98 percent of these more than two hundred thousand unique website hosting brand names worldwide will offer you exactly the same cPanel web hosting CP and platform, dubbed differently, with absolutely the same price tags! WOW! That's how immense the diversity on the present hosting marketplace is... Full stop.

The Hosting LOTTERY we are all participating in

Simple arithmetic reveals that to run into a non-cPanel based web hosting corporation is a mammoth strike of luck. There is a less than one in 50 chance that a thing like that will occur! Less than one in fifty...

The upsides and downsides of the cPanel Hosting solution

Let's not be pitiless with cPanel. After all, in the years 2001-2004 cPanel was modish and probably met most hosting industry preconditions. In brief, cPanel can do the job for you if you have just one single domain name to host. But, if you have more domain names...

Negative Point No.1: An idiotic domain folder setup

If you have 2 or more domain names, however, be extremely careful not to remove fully the add-on ones (that's how cPanel will call each new hosted domain name, which is not the default one: an add-on domain). The files of the add-on domain names are quite simple to erase on the web server, because they all are located into the root folder of the default domain, which is the very well known public_html folder. Each add-on domain is a folder placed inside the folder of the default domain. Like a sub-folder. Next time try not to remove the files of the add-on domains, please. Examine for yourself how good cPanel's domain folder arrangement is:

public_html (here my-default-domain.com is situated)
public_html/my-family (a folder part of my-default-domain.com)
public_html/my-second-domain.com (an add-on domain name)
public_html/my-second-wife (a folder part of my-default-domain.com)
public_html/my-second-wife.net (an add-on domain)
public_html/my-third-domain.com (an add-on domain name)
public_html/my-third-wife (a folder part of my-default-domain.com)
public_html/my-third-wife.net (an add-on domain name)
public_html/rebeka (a folder part of my-default-domain.com)
public_html/rebeka.my-third-wife.net (a sub-domain of an add-on domain name)

Are you getting disorientated? We absolutely are!

Problem Number Two: The very same email folder system

The electronic mail folder configuration on the web server is absolutely the same as that of the domains... Repeating the same error twice?!? The admin boys strongly reinforce their faith in God when handling the mail folders on the e-mail server, praying not to bungle things up too irretrievably.

Problem Number 3: An absolute absence of domain name manipulation menus

Do we need to bring up the total absence of a contemporary domain name management user interface - a location where you can: register/migrate/renew/park or administer domains, change domains' Whois info, secure the Whois information, change/set up name servers (DNS) and Domain Name System records? cPanel does not contain such a "contemporary" menu at all. That's a gigantic problem. An unpardonable one, we would like to point out...

Inconvenience Number 4: Many user login places (minimum 2, max 3)

What about the necessity for an extra login to utilize the invoice transaction, domain and technical support administration GUI? That's aside from the cPanel login credentials you've been already given by the cPanel-based Hosting firm. Now and then, on the basis of the invoicing platform (principally made for cPanel only) the cPanel Hosting firm is utilizing, the ardent clients can end up with 2 additional login places (1: the billing/domain administration software solution; 2: the trouble ticket support user interface), ending up with an aggregate of 3 login locations (including cPanel).

Downside Number 5: More than a hundred and twenty hosting CP areas to become familiar with... quickly

cPanel presents for your consideration 120+ departments inside the website hosting Control Panel. It's a great idea to get acquainted with each and every one of them. And you'd better get to know them fast... That's way too arrogant on cPanel's side.

With all due respect, we have a rhetorical question for all cPanel Hosting suppliers:

As far as we know, it's not the year 2001, is it? Remark that one too...
